Introducing Federal Way Chiropractor Dr. Steve Yip

Federal Way, Washington Chiropractor, Dr. Steve Yip

Seventeen years ago when I was close to graduating from college I was faced with the challenge of deciding what to do with my degree and my life.  All I knew was that I got joy out of helping people, putting smiles on people's faces and making them happy.

To help pay for my college education I worked at a plant and flower shop on the weekends.  I did a lot of planting, lifting, driving, and cleaning.  As a result I would get severe low back pain by the end of the day.  I would go to school and sit down for 5 hours a day and then go study for another 3 hours.  The pain became so unbearable, that I could not work at my job like I knew I could.  I had difficulty concentrating on my studies, and worse yet I wasn't able to play my favorite sport, ice hockey.  Growing up in Canada that was not okay, EH?!

I was taking Tylenol and Aspirin but the drugs weren't working.  Fortunately, I met a chiropractor at my church.  He convinced me to give chiropractic a try.  The chiropractor did an exam, took some films, and then "adjusted" my spine.  The adjustment didn't hurt, it actually felt good.  I got relief, and was able to work at the shop better and more importantly, I was able to focus on my studies being pain free.  It worked so well that after I graduated with a Bachelor of Science degree in 1990 from Simon Fraser University in Vancouver, B.C. I then attended Logan College of Chiropractic in St. Louis, Missouri.

After graduating with my Doctor of Chiropractic degree in 1994, I worked as an associate doctor for chiropractic clinics in Puyallup and Edmonds.  I then started a practice in Tukwila up to 2003, at which time I decided to move my practice to Federal Way.  I have been in full-time practice since 1994.  I have a strong commitment to continuing post-graduate chiropractic education.  I am an active member of the Washington State Chiropractic Association.

I have personally experienced the benefits of chiropractic.  I decided to become a chiropractor to enrich people's lives through pain control and health the natural way.  We'll tailor a chiropractic program to fit your schedule, your budget and your individual needs ... whether you're seeking relief from pain, long-term correction of a structural problem, or ongoing wellness care for prevention.  We will be working together as a team to help you and your family reach your health and wellness goals.

I have enjoyed living in South King County for a number of years and I am committed to providing your family with the highest quality of chiropractic care available so that you and your family can enjoy an active, healthy life.  I welcome the opportunity to show you the steps toward better health.

Dr. Steve Asks some important questions of interest to Federal Way residents - Chiropractor Federal Way Dr. Steve Asks...

What does a chiropractic adjustment do?
Chiropractic adjustments give your spine a little "nudge" at the right place, right time and the right direction so your body can use that energy to "right" itself. With a schedule of consistent chiropractic visits, a new, healthier spinal pattern emerges.
What controls every cell, tissue and organ of your body?
DNA? Wrong. Immune system? Wrong? Hormones? Wrong. It's your nervous system, consisting of your brain, spinal cord and all the nerves of your body. When a chiropractor sees a Federal Way patient with say, stomach problems, we want to know why the brain is unable to properly control and regulate the stomach. Which prompts us to examine the nervous system—the focus of chiropractic care.
